We arranged album covers which are design by Andy Warhol...
Andy Warhol is known for his billboard prints but actually his the most popular works might be among your album collection. Warhol designed album covers for jazz musicians and pop icons. We can count legend names as Velvet Underground, The Rolling Stones, Diana Ross, The Smiths, Aretha Franklin and more. And we prepared a list of covers which are designed by Andy Warhol.
1956 Joe Newman "I'm Still Swinging" LP
At the beginning of 50s, while Warhol's interesting ink drawings started to appearing on albums of classic and world music, the one he did for Joe Newman is one of his earliest attemps at collage art.
1958 Kenny Burrell "Blue Lights" Vol. 1
Thanks to Kenny Burrell's album Warhol finally started to break away from drawing instruments and close-ups of musicians, and started to deliver a piece of art as evocative as the music inside. Also this album revealed his obsession of high heels.
1967 The Velvet Underground and Nico
Warhol became famous by the Cambell's soup cans. Once again he took an ordinary item from grocery store and blew it up bigger. Fans who bought the album followed the instructions to "peel slowly and see" and by removing the banana-skin they came up against to a design of the fruit inside. And also the cover features only Warhol's name so there was no mention of the band anywhere. We guess that's why the album sold just 5.000 copies.
1982 Diana Ross "Silk Electric"
At first, Warhol dressed up Ross head-to-toe gold lame but he ended up using a close-up face of her for the final product. And the most important thing is the works were stylized with vivid background andbright red lips.
