Red Baraat will be at Babylon for 27th Akbank Jazz Festival.
Jazz, hip-hop, rock, funk, blaring winds, classical Indian music… The members of the Red Baraat, who mesmerize their audience with their mad energy in this rich and freely jaxtaposed audio-mosaic, since 2008, has been praised as one of the best party bands, not of New York only, but also of the world. Getting to the top of Bilboard magazine world lists with their second album Shruggy Ji (2013), and going on a 3-year-long huge world tour, the group has got on stage in festivals like Bonnaroo, Austin City Limits, Hardly Strictly Bluegrass, New Orleans Jazz & Heritage and Peter Gabriel’s WOMAD in Austria, New Zeland and UK; while showing up in the Olympic games, at the White House and TEDx meetings. An incorrigible alchemist of their own music, the Red Baraat, now, is back with their third studio album Bhangra Pirates. The surrealistic musical textures and percussive vernacular created by their new member, the guitarist Jonathan Goldberger, will fly high in the storm of Sunny Jain’s double headed drum.
