The “Afro-express” train from Gökçeada arrives at Babylon on April 17!
Let the Wunderfest wind blowing from Gökçeada warm you from the inside at Babylon on April 17 with the Afro-Express experience, accompanied by Deli Bakkal's Afro-jazz tunes and special guests. Before and after Deli Bakkal’s live performance, one of the first DJs that comes to mind when thinking of Afrobeat, Barzound, along with the creator of agile tunes, Braderin, will take over the booth with their selections.
Deli Bakkal
Deli Bakkal brings musical traditions such as Afrobeat, Ethio-jazz, and Anatolian funk to Turkey’s jazz scene with fresh approaches. With a polyphonic ensemble and a vibrant presence, they bring the liberating power of music to the stage.
Deli Bakkal’s singles, which blend African melodies from Gibraltar with the local sounds of Anatolia, including “Salı Pazarı”, “Tellal”, “Cebelitarık”, and “Kime Kime Bu?”, were released under Tarla Records. Their jazz, funk, and fusion-oriented compositions blend modern influences with nostalgic traces, while their live performances include interpretations of songs by Fela Kuti, Barış Manço, The Budos Band, and Mulatu Astatke.
Braderin
Braderin is one of the main broadcasters at Radio Modyan, an online radio dedicated to bass, breakbeat, drum & bass, garage, dubstep, and adjacent sounds.
Barzound
Dancer, collector, music hunter and selector Barzound gently tickles our ears, while making our hips and shoulders sway.
He first introduced African rhythms to Istanbul nights in Beyoğlu in 2009. Since then, he has been performing at various venues and special events across the city, promoting Afro sounds.
In his sets–ranging from Afrobeat to Afrofunk, jazz to disco, and boogie–he presents a wide selection of music spanning from the 1960s to the present. His sets feature legendary artists from Nigeria, Mali, Senegal, and Ethiopia, alongside contemporary sounds from the Netherlands, Greece, and Belgium.
