An Absurdist’s psychedelic guide to a meaningful life: Tempesst at Babylon on April 11!
Founded by identical twins Toma Banjanin (vocals) and Andy Banjanin (drums), who grew up on the Sunshine Coast of Queensland, Australia, Tempesst is one of the most exciting psychedelic rock outfits today. Having released three full-length albums so far, the band will perform at Babylon on April 11.
Tempesst released their debut LP Must Be a Dream in 2020, receiving positive coverage in the mainstream press and being named BBC Future Artist the same year. The Prisoner of Desire was released three years later, and its tour became the band’s largest to date, with sold-out shows in Manchester, Paris, and Berlin.
Tempesst returned with their third LP, Forbidden Fruit, described as “an Absurdist’s guide to a meaningless but meaningful life.” The album explores themes of purpose, identity, and love, showcasing a fresh sound and shedding their previous production style for a modern hi-fi approach. Recorded by longtime collaborator and producer Elliot Heinrich at the band’s own Pony Studios in East London, the band cites The Myth of Sisyphus by Albert Camus as an influence on the themes and lyrics of the record.
Before Tempesst, Vaccines keyboardist Timothy Lanham will take the stage with his project T Truman, inspired by 1970s and piano-pop icons. Make sure to show up early!
