Recently nominated for the best new artist in France’s Victoires de la Musique Awards, Half-French, Half-Moroccan musician Hindi Zahra blends musical styles such as jazz and world music to sublime results on her latest album “Hand Made”, released by EMI.
First making a name for herself in Turkey with the song “Beautiful Tango”, Hindi Zahra prepares her albums entirely by herself, considered to be “the new Billie Holiday” by The Wire, Zahra says “I write a lyric, play a riff, record the guitars, then place the lyrics over the music”. Never relinquishing her link to Morroco, this talented Blue Note artist also features traditional instruments such as the Bendir in her performances. Now this unique voice will be visiting Babylon for a 2 very special performances.
