Gogol Bordello welcomes you to the colorful world of New York’s back streets with their surrealistic costumes, while bringing gypsy-punk influenced cabarets together.
New York
Leader and the singer of the band, Eugene Hütz grew up listening to the records of The Birthday Party ve Einstürzande Neubauten in Ukraine. As Chernobyl disaster in 1986 caused radical changes in Hütz’s country, it also made him aware of the mysterious and beautiful culture of gypsies. After living as an immigrant in Poland, Hungary, Austria and Italy he moved to New York in 1993 where he made his breakthrough. Gogol Bordello played in few Russian weddings and as they were slowly making a name for themselves in New York’s underground scene with their hyper-kinetic stage performances and unusual sound. At a point when they were extremely popular between supermodels and actors, their collaboration with Madonna expanded their fan base. After playing in many festivals in Turkey like Rock’n Coke and One Love, Gogol Bordello this time will be in Babylon for an intimate and dynamic gig on March 11th, with the sponsorship of Garanti Caz Yeşili!
