Save the date: Sing along with Ari Barokas on March 7

It’s not possible to summarize the course of music in Turkey since the late 1990s without repeatedly mentioning Ari Barokas’ name. After his work with the band Duman, musician and composer Barokas began his solo career in 2018 with his debut album Lafıma Gücenme. With immersive arrangements and nuanced lyrics, the 10-song album spoke directly to the listener and was followed by a series called Stüdyodan Konser, which captured the live performance of Barokas and his team and was later released as an album.

Barokas’ second solo album, Bu Toprak Senin, got released in January 2023. It is a tribute to masters that includes reinterpretations of four folk songs and four modern compositions. Barokas will perform at Babylon on March 7, with a repertoire that includes songs and folk tunes from his two albums.
