GRAMMY winner, Pakistani composer, songwriter and vocalist Arooj Aftab will be our guest on Saturday, November 26th! lardayüzen will be at the DJ cabin to kick off the night.

Brooklyn based artist Arooj Aftab’s liminal sound ranges from classical minimalism to new age, from Sufi poetry to electronic trance, and from jazz forms to a tune of plain existence. She created the basis of her own music and started her creations following the classes she took from a wide array of genres from pop and South Asian classical music to Urdu Poetry. Receiving an offer from Berklee College of Music and moving from Lahor to Boston, she moved to New York after completing her studies. She created a brand new space within her composition skills during this time  by heading towards abstract jazz and contemporary compositions and blending those with her extraordinary vocals. Combining the acoustic guitar with her own unique vocals and fluttering electronics in her first album “Bird Under Water” (2015), she released her second album “Siren Islands” in 2018. Her 2021 album “Vulture Prince” made her name known and was highly praised by critics and entered the lists of top tracks and albums issued by important music platforms such as The Guardian, 6Music, NPR, Pitchfork, TIME, Uncut and Songlines. Receiving the “Best Global Music Performance” award in the 2022 GRAMMYs, the artist was also nominated in the “Best New Artist” category. We will meet on the night of November 26th for Arooj Aftab’s first never-to-be-forgotten Istanbul concert.
