Karsu, the artist who received standing ovations for her performances at New York Carnegie Hall and North Sea Jazz Festival, takes the stage to perform what she dubs as “Karsu music,” blending jazz, blues, soul, and funk with Turkish classical music.
The artist, who often performs in Europe and around the world, also taking the stage in packed halls in Istanbul, Ankara, Alanya and Akbank Jazz Festivals, will perform tracks from her previous albums as well as her latest album released in September 2015. Karsu received standing ovations for her performances at Carnegie Hall in New York and the North Sea Jazz Festival. Critics hailed her concerts as historic events, and audiences flocked to her performances in Turkey as well.
Infusing elements of jazz, blues, soul, and funk with Turkish classical music, Karsu doesn’t only play the piano; she is also a top notch singer, lyrics writer, composer and producer. In addition to her original pieces in English, she also interprets Turkish classics from a variety genres such as “Divane Aşık Gibi,” “Gesi Bağları,” “Domates Biber Patlıcan,” and “Nerdesin Sen.” The artist, who was born to a family from Hatay but currently resides in Amsterdam, places special importance on her concerts in Turkey, and holds special practice sessions for them.
